In January 2011, NeoStem completed the acquisition of Progenitor Cell Therapy (PCT), a CMO (contract manufacturing organization) with manufacturing, regulatory, and commercialization expertise for therapeutics development. This event added market-leading manufacturing and regulatory expertise as well as proprietary therapeutics to NeoStem’s portfolio.

PCT has East Coast, West Coast, and (with the addition of a Beijing facility) Asian cGMP manufacturing facilities. This offers an attractiveon footprint for CMO clients and NeoStem’s own development needs. They PCT currently boasts a “who’s who” list of the cell therapy industry’s top clients and developed the manufacturing process for Dendreon Inc.’s Provenge cell therapy.

PCT founded Athelos (Neostem’s 80% owned T regulatory cell programs) and Amorcyte (NeoStem’s 100% owned AMI and CHF programs), and will continue to provide manufacturing and process development for both of these assets.

As the products of PCT’s clients advance through clinical development and commercialization, revenues will grow and generate free cash flow. Patient numbers increase dramatically as clients proceed through clinical trials and the potential for PCT revenue rises just as dramatically through its service as a CMO. 

Beijing CMO Laboratory and Plant

This facility complements its sister PCT facilities in Mountain View, California and Allendale, New Jersey. It was created as a laboratory facility for processing, banking, and manufacturing comparable to the US PCT facilities and built to the same design and standards.
