Home Stem Cell Therapies
Stem cell based therapies, such as bone marrow transplant, have been around for over 40 years as treatment for cancer and anemia. There has been an increase in adult stem cell therapy clinical trials which are showing great promise in the areas of skin and wound healing, orthopedics, and in treating diseases including peripheral vascular disease, scleroderma, diabetes, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, and much more.
Stem Cell Therapy
NeoStem acquired the worldwide exclusive license to VSEL™ technology from the University of Louisville. Very Small Embryonic-Like stem cells, which form the basis of the VSEL™ technology, have physical characteristics typically found in embryonic stem cells, including the ability to differentiate into specialized cells found in different types of tissue that would be able to interact with the specific organ in order to repair degenerated, damaged or diseased tissue. NeoStem is harvesting and cryopreserving these Very Small Embryonic-like stem cells from individual patients, setting the stage for their use in personalized regenerative medicine.
NeoStem has established a collaborative relationship in China to leverage the country’s progressive stem cell environment. In 2010, NeoStem’s partners will commercially launch stem cell therapeutic procedures in orthopedics and anti-aging and wellness areas. NeoStem is building additional relationships in China to establish an adult stem cell banking platform and create opportunities for future stem cell application launches.
